Planetmedia Audit

Most eco brands are growing slower than they should be, and they can’t always say why. The website looks fine. The team posts on social. Email goes out sometimes. And still, the business sits where it was six months ago.

That gap — between the effort you put in and the growth you actually get — is what the Brand Growth Audit measures.

It is free, it takes about three minutes, and at the end you get a real score (out of 100) plus the top three areas that are quietly costing you buyers right now. No fluff, no generic advice.

This article explains what the audit covers, how the scoring works, and what to actually do once you have your results.

What the Brand Growth Audit actually does

The audit is a structured diagnostic with ten honest questions about your brand. You answer in two minutes, and based on your responses we compute a score that places you in one of four growth states:

  • Strong foundation (80 to 100): your systems are working — time to compound
  • Solid base, costly gaps (60 to 79): you are leaking buyers in two or three specific places
  • Real potential (35 to 59): the foundations are not pulling their weight yet
  • Early days (0 to 34): starting from scratch, and that is actually an advantage

The score is not the point. The point is the diagnosis: what specifically is holding your brand back, in priority order.

The 10 areas we measure (and why they matter)

We do not just ask “how is your marketing?” That gives you nothing useful. Instead we ask ten specific questions, one for each lever that meaningfully moves growth for an eco brand:

1. Brand positioning

Can a stranger tell what you do and who you do it for in five seconds? Most can’t. The brands that win are crystal clear in one sentence.

2. Website design and trust

Does your site look like a brand a customer would pay premium prices to? Aesthetic matters, but so does feeling current and on-brand for a sustainability-driven audience.

3. Website conversion path

Is there one obvious next step on your homepage, and do you actually track who takes it?

4. Website performance

How fast does your site load on a phone? Two seconds is the line. Slow sites quietly bleed traffic and trust.

5. SEO foundations

When someone Googles what you sell (not your name), do you show up? If not, you are paying for every visitor with ads.

6. AI search readiness

Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for the best in your space. Are you in the answer? This is the new front of search, and most brands haven’t done a thing about it yet.

7. Content cadence

How consistently do you publish content that your buyers actually want? Weekly with a plan beats sporadic 10 times out of 10.

8. Social media engagement

When you post, do real potential buyers engage? Likes from friends are noise, not signal.

9. Email and follow up

After someone shows interest, does a system follow up, or does it depend on you remembering?

10. Marketing automation with AI

How much of your marketing runs on autopilot, and how much is you, manually, every day?

Each question is answered on a 0/3/7/10 scale (0 = nothing is happening, 10 = this is dialed in). Add them up and you have your Growth Score out of 100.

How the scoring works

We chose 10 questions for a reason. They are the leverage points where almost every eco brand we have worked with either wins or stalls.

When you finish, your Growth Score is computed as the sum of your answers. Then we identify the three lowest-scoring areas — those are your top three priorities, because that is where you are leaking the most growth.

The bucket you fall in tells you the shape of your situation:

  • A score of 92 means you are doing almost everything right. You don’t need a new strategy, you need leverage on what is working. AI automation is usually the next move.
  • A score of 67 means you have a foundation but two or three pieces are leaking buyers. Usually it’s the website conversion path, content consistency, or email follow-up.
  • A score of 48 means the systems are not pulling their weight yet. The fastest unlock is usually a rebuilt website plus one or two AI automations.
  • A score of 22 means you are early. That’s fine — you get to skip years of trial and error and build it right the first time.

What you get when you finish

The moment you submit, two things happen:

  1. On screen: your score, your bucket, and your top three priorities. Immediate, no waiting.
  2. In your inbox: the same information by email from business@planetmediallc.com, so you can come back to it. The email arrives in about a minute. If you don’t see it, check the Promotions tab or spam folder and mark it as not spam.

You also get the option to book a free 30-minute audit call where we walk through your results in person. More on that below.

Who the audit is for (and who it isn’t)

The audit is built for:

  • Founders of eco brands between $0 and $5M in revenue
  • Marketing leads at B Corps or mission-driven companies trying to make the case internally for what to fix
  • Anyone thinking about marketing for a sustainability-aligned business who wants a real diagnosis, not generic advice

The audit is not for:

  • Big consumer brands with a marketing team of 20 (the gaps we surface are not your bottlenecks)
  • Pure-play tech startups (we don’t specialize in your sector)
  • Brands that just want a generic “marketing score” with no eco focus

If you’re in the second group, there are good general audits elsewhere. This one is built specifically for the patterns we see in sustainable, environmentally-focused brands.

How to use your score, step by step

Most audit tools give you a number and stop there. Here is what to actually do:

Step 1: Don’t react to the score itself

A score of 51 isn’t bad. A score of 87 isn’t a victory. The number is just orientation. What matters is the three priorities.

Step 2: Read your top 3 priorities carefully

These are the areas where you scored lowest. They are where the biggest wins are hiding. If your top priority is “Website conversion path”, that is where 30 days of focused work will pay back the most.

Step 3: Pick ONE to fix first

The temptation is to fix everything. Don’t. Pick the priority you are most ready to tackle — resources, mindset, timing — and commit 30 days to it.

Step 4: Decide if you want help

If you can fix it yourself in 30 days, do that. The audit is yours to use as a checklist.

If you want a partner that specifically builds this kind of work for eco brands — websites that convert, marketing systems that compound, AI automation that takes manual work off your plate — that is what we do at Planet Media. The 30-minute call is the gate.

What happens on the optional 30-minute call

When you book the audit call from the email, here is what happens:

  1. Before the call (in the 72 hours between booking and the meeting), we look at your website, your specific answers, and what we know about eco brands at your stage. We put together a deeper, personalized audit just for you.
  2. On the call, we walk through that audit live. Specific observations on your site, the two or three fixes we would prioritize, and what we would do first if we were in your seat.
  3. After the call, you get the audit notes in writing. Yours to keep, whether we work together or not.

The call is free. There is no deck. No “let me check with my team”. If we are not the right fit, we say so on the call and point you somewhere that is.

We only run a handful of these calls each week, which is why slots fill up fast and why we ask leads to book within 72 hours of getting their score.

FAQ

Is the Brand Growth Audit really free?

Yes. The scorecard is free. The 30-minute follow-up call is free. Nothing is paid unless you decide to work with us afterward.

How long does it take?

Three minutes for the scorecard. About 30 minutes for the optional call.

Will I get spam emails if I take it?

You get one email with your score, then a small follow-up sequence to help you act on it. If you opt in (a checkbox at the end), you also get our weekly newsletter — one email a week, sustainable marketing tips, easy unsubscribe.

What if my score is low?

Low scores are common, especially for brands under $1M revenue. The audit is designed to surface gaps. A low score is just a clearer map of what to fix.

Can I take it more than once?

Yes. Many brands retake it every 3 to 6 months to track progress. The data is private to each submission.

Do you work with brands outside the US?

Yes. Most of our clients are in the US (we are based in Denver), but we work with eco-conscious brands globally, especially in English-speaking markets.

What if I just want feedback on one part, like my website?

Take the full audit anyway. The scoring is integrated, and even one weak area tends to reveal something about the rest. Then on the call we focus on the part you want.
